Forging and pressing equipment is a critical component of machine tools and belongs to the foundational assembly industry. The quality of this equipment directly determines the level of the machinery manufacturing sector. As China’s forging and pressing equipment industry continues to develop, its industrial value is steadily expanding, attracting capital from outside the sector that seeks diverse investment opportunities. Meanwhile, domestic enterprises are undergoing industrial transformation and restructuring, signaling that the old industry landscape is on the verge of being reshaped, with a new order rapidly taking shape.

 

The recycling and reuse of secondhand forging and pressing equipment are of great significance for industrial upgrading, energy conservation, and noise reduction. They not only help lower production costs but also enhance enterprise productivity. Through market demand analysis of forging and pressing equipment, we find that a roughly 1% increase in the agricultural machinery and automotive industries would drive a 1.72% growth in the forging and pressing equipment sector. Moreover, the market structure of forging and pressing equipment directly influences the industry’s scale and structural composition.

Based on their drive mechanisms, forging and pressing equipment is classified into hammers, hydraulic presses, crank presses, rotary forging presses, and screw presses. Currently in China, air hammers range from 30 to 1,000 kilograms, while steam–air free‑forging hammers span 1 to 5 tons and are primarily used for billet forging. Steam–air die‑forging hammers, with capacities from 1 to 16 tons, are employed in the mechanical engineering industry for producing a wide variety of forged components. In addition, there are spring hammers, belt hammers, wire hammers, and clamp hammers, among others.

In recent years, high-efficiency hydraulic hammers have also been developed abroad. Hydraulic forging presses originated in the mid-19th century and have now become essential equipment for forging and pressing operations in the metallurgical and mechanical industries. Their working stroke speed is approximately 50 to 150 millimeters per second, and their operation is essentially hydrostatic in nature; the pressure of the working fluid typically ranges from 200 to 400 atmospheres.

In recent years, after years of technological accumulation, the domestic forging‑press market has formulated a sound and well‑structured development strategy: enhancing product quality while controlling manufacturing costs and ramping up marketing efforts. To seize these opportunities, the domestic forging‑press industry must focus on elevating brand value, transition from a production‑oriented model to a production‑service‑oriented one, develop high‑end, automated forging‑press products, consolidate its position in the domestic market, and then expand into international markets.
